i.xpo is “sustainable company”
Kaarst, 30th June 2016 | The certification body CO₂OL has awarded the sustainability strategy of the trade fair specialists i.xpo., based in Kaarst, the rating of “exemplary”. “Sustainable economic activity is long since not just in the interests of environmental protection. More and more frequently, exhibitors are asking their suppliers for sustainable and thus resource-friendly stand construction solutions”, underlines i.xpo Managing Director Olivier Morlon.
i.xpo authorised signatory and sustainability officer Ulf Stollenwerk considers the certification as a “sustainable company” as an important milestone on the way to making the company “climate-neutral” in the medium term. “As Germany’s biggest trade fair constructors, our goal is to offset at least as much CO2 as we generate during the production of our trade fair stands, exhibitions and brand worlds”, explains Stollenwerk.
“Exemplarily sustainable”: from stand construction materials to fair-trade coffee
“We do not see the orientation towards sustainable economic activity as something which holds us back, but rather as an opportunity. That is why our sustainability strategy includes much more than just the selection of resource-friendly stand construction materials”, says Stollenwerk. This commitment is also reflected in the “outstanding results”, which i.xpo achieved as part of the sustainability certification procedure. In addition to the materials used, the factors energy consumption and mobility as well as waste avoidance and recycling were also examined, amongst other things. “We have been fully behind green electricity for many years, have modernised our vehicle fleet in an environmentally-friendly manner and prefer to work over short distances – with suppliers from the region”, reports Stollenwerk, who adds – with a smile – that even the coffee at i.xpo is fair-trade.
Making employees and customers aware of the topic of “sustainable trade fair construction”
The headline of the company’s sustainability strategy is “i.xpoMission”. It is particularly important to i.xpo Managing Director Morlon that the values embodied in the strategy are embraced by every single employee: “Only if this is the case can we achieve the goal we have set ourselves of working in a climate-neutral manner in the next few years.” In this regard, Morlon also believes that exhibitors are responsible and hopes that their increasing demand for sustainable stand construction solutions continues to grow.
